Day Seven of my 365 Day Writing Project
Time: 1.5 hours
The first week is done!
Once again, we had a beautiful summer day despite the weather reports for thunderstorms and rain. I enjoyed the day with my family and waited to start writing after the kids were all asleep. Nighttime seems to be my go-to time to write. “Whatever works,” as the saying goes.
It was fairly simple to get into writing mode this evening. Sometimes it just comes easy. Tonight it came easy because I was nearing the end of a chapter that I have been working on for a long time. It has been my experience when I am writing the end of a part in the story that it can either be intensely difficult or tons of fun. Tonight it was fun. I had no plan for the chapter’s ending; it evolved on its own. Easily. I love that.
I did, however, have a plan for the start of the next chapter. Wanting the two chapters to flow smoothly from one to the other, I knew exactly where I wanted to start. Generally speaking, finishing a chapter is a good point in time to call it a night. I could have easily decided to wait until tomorrow to start the next chapter. Instead, I kept writing. So I finished week one starting something new.
I won’t bore you now with metaphors about beginnings and endings. I’ll simply report that I finished one chapter and started another to finish the first week and start the next. I’ll consider that productive.
